Ted Smith-Orr

THE FOOTBALL FAN:

Ted Smith-Orr has been a Charlton fan since 1947/48 when his aunt and uncle took him to see his first, reserve, game. ‘Their homes in Siebert Road were steeped in the aura of the club; Sain Bartram and Charlie Vaughan were legends.’

He is a full member of the quiet supporters club who have upheld the name of Charlton through thick and thin and throughout the Crystal Palace uprising. Attending games occasionally regardless of the clubs efforts to move away when he was near to them.

THE POET:

“Energetic organiser of ‘Poets Anonymous’, who meet every First Friday at the Orchard pub in East Croydon joint Editor of ‘Poetic Licence’ magazine. Organiser of ‘Poetry Plus’ poetry festival held each year in July at the Croydon Clocktower.

Poet, Editor, Correspondent, Competition adjudicator. He has been on BBC Southern Counties Radio and Broadcaster, Compiler for Croydon FM.

His work has appeared in a number of magazines, anthologies, painphlets and on the Intemet. Has read in pubs, clubs, libraries, schools, theatres and festivals. Not forgetting a tent in field, Haven Holidays, and Butlin’s in Blackpool, where his results in the talent competitions went unrecorded.
