We’re back for more endeavour
while some still holiday
a handful here from Tyneside
have found Another Way*

we wipe away the memories
those seasons in a row
the cruel Play Off lottery
for where we long to go

the Rovers faithful reconvene
they’re sampling Vegan food
the Heeds have come here to defend
as deadlock is ensued

the Wembley heartbreak is long gone
at last the crowd ignite
it’s early doors at The New Lawn
we’re showing will and fight

we start to know the faces
the shape the look the new
the season stretches like the hills
as far as we can view

the trees have grown much taller now
the sheep can barely see
we’d take a goal from anywhere
a win will do for me

we leave it late but in the end
we may not have impressed
and need to gel but what the hell
we grab one at the death

how fabulous our hillside home
