in black-and-white of the match Everton
had won by a single goal at Burnden Park
in 1966

as it was played in 1966

the better year than the year 1966

than FA Cup semi-final in which
Everton could think would be the first team to keep
the clean sheet in the F.A Cup semi-final
since Bury and Preston’s Invincibles

it is Manchester United

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 THE TIMES explained that it would have been
easy to blame United’s failure on the ludicrous
pile-up of fixtures which had strangled the life of
the leading clubs of English football
It would be right to blame their cup exit on this
THE TIMES had the genial number two
reason for Everton’s victory in this game
which was played on APRIL 23 in Bolton

to play the final chord

Not since 1902 has a team won the F.A Cup without conceding a goal.Now Everton,as the result of winning this semi-final at Burnden Park on Saturday, can equal a feat previously accomplished by Bury and Preston’s Invincibles. (THE TIMES MONDAY APRIL 25 1966)
