Bill ‘Dixie’ Dean

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Bill Dean Rovered over the river
He disliked his nickname, the Alabama’s song-o
He ascented to head a ton of goals forever
While Aston Villa was wearing Pongo

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 His mates all worked at Cammell Lairds
They riveted an iron plate into his forehead
He launched a thousand ironclads just by raising his eyebrows
He launched a thousand legends for the royal blue skybrows

Notes

I have to be an Evertonian, as my Dad was at school in Birkenhead with Dixie Dean (and Pongo Waring). Dixie, a really modest guy, was the greatest header of the ball. The iron plate was an urban scouse legend after his motor bike accident.
