Chances

Ten years to build a dream, one match to burn it
A lesson taught quickly but lifetimes to learn it
Success has no guarantee, fame has its price
Dreams are destroyed with one roll of the dice.

The chances you get will not always be sweet
Crosses don’t often come straight to your feet
A point if you take this chance, none if you spurn it
Blood, sweat and tears for this, one match to burn it.

The line between triumph and failure is thin
So unpredictable – it draws us all in
Why do we gamble success when we earn it?
One shot for glory or one match to burn it.

A game must have losers, we never know who
But through any defeat, still our love remains true
Cos we know that in football, one moment can turn it
A lifetime to live this dream, one match to burn it.
