A scene of great commotion,
Of push and shout and shove.
Of highly-charged emotions,
Appeals to God above.

The ball had clearly crossed the line,
‘Twas plain for all to see.
To all eyes fixed upon that match –
All save the referee’s…
¶ 3

In disbelief they press him,
Against him rant and rail.
With mouths most foul address him,
Alas, to no avail.

No oath hurled from the dugout,
Cast coin, flung toilet roll,
No threat of death can sway the ref
Who’s disallowed a goal.
