My French colleagues would like to ‘break heaven’
And I immediately imagine ‘Total Football’ taken to an nth degree
‘Tiki taki’ taken to a different level
Formations taken into ‘the cloud’, dispersed into ‘fluid movement’
Managers empowered with forethought and perceptive planning
Teams full of talented, smart, ambitious players
And game changing tactics deployed….

But a terse reminder, that my snoring is drowning out
The waffle weaving across the syndicated ether
I sit up, nod sagely in rhythm with the corporate speak
Where Governance and efficiency and corrective actions will, apparently,
Save the day, if we embrace change
And then the economics – where bar charts and matrixes breed like rabbits
Until I realise that with all this spend, my gallic colleagues just wanted
To ‘break even’
Aka to ‘draw level’
But of course, in our world, that will only incur the dreaded ‘penalties’!

Euro 2016 Semi Final 2

France 2 – 0 Germany

Antoine Griezemann scores both goals.

First one from a penalty, against the run of play, Germany had dominated possession.
Second half, the germans were very un-german like!
Second goal was a comedy of errors from their part..
