A second European Cup
For any manager
Is like that ‘difficult second album’
That troubles bands and singers
On the crest of the wave of success
Constructing clubs or writing words
It’s all the same
Chasing success that seals the place
Of immortality
Bob Paisley Brian Clough were the maestros
Perhaps Rafa Benitez too will join the pantheon
But Alex Ferguson has a dry throat
And this time it is the ‘fat lady’ behind the curtain
Who is clearing her throat
To sing.
