From Cradle to Grave – and Beyond…

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The People’s Game, the Glory Game –
The Heartbreak Game, the Beautiful Game.
All, or nothing; winners make losers,
And most of us are. The team is our
Lifeblood – be it red, or blue, striped
Or hooped. In my case, gold and black.
I invest too much money, and too much
Emotion in them. They return my devotion
With indifferent displays. But, I stick with
Them, as they are my team. And the team
Of thousands others – living far and wide.
Managers, players – even Chief Execs, they
Come and go, eventually. But for me, this
Is a long-term relationship – from birth
To death, in fact – and even beyond ?
Perhaps in the Heavenly Game, they
Might just reach the Premiership –
With a little divine intervention, of course.
