he’s a great man who is what Millwall is built on, pure strength, passion,
and pride……………..
Editor’s Note : .Re Use of : ‘Ginga’ ..here’s Wikipedia’s take:
a slang term for a person with red hair
Ever-wary of the PC brigade out there, and with two grand-children of our own with stunning red hair (and no history of red-hair in our family) I personally grew up on the street, where ‘Ginga’ or ‘Ginger’ was an affectionate term for ‘yer mates’ and used without malice and no-one got upset. My favourite comic even had a charater called Ginger. Times have changed and in bullying circles the term is now up for debate and can be regarded a cruel or even racist. Which is bizarre, given that it’s a colour of hair as opposed to skin.
This poem is published here though because a: ‘Ginga Bob’ might well have loved the nickname on the terraces, and b: for it’s great ‘fan’ sentiment.
I also, like Terry, bemoan the days when we could meet on the half way line…home or away – whoever we followed..
For the purists: here’s Wikipedia’sd full take …..
