Kindness of Strangers (For Marcus Rashford)

The Beautiful Game is a wonderful life
Gives us moments of joy wrapped in parcels of strife
The goals and the saves and the less and the more
The crosses and losses the wins and the draws
The badly behaved and the ones who don’t care
Who begrudge and bemoan those who need a fare share
Millionaire players who in fame bubbles float
The worst ever signing v the GOAT
But football’s communal and nowt without fans
So, here’s to you Marcus Rashford for taking a stand
Making a change in this fraught troubled land
For stirring up heartbeats and reminding us all
A hero is a hero on and off the ball.
