Knocked off our Perch

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Three defeats now in a row,
No wonder we are somewhat miffed.
Our hearts are brimming o’er with woe,
Oh how we badly need a lift.
Cork City smoothly stemmed our flow,
Dan Murray showed enormous thrift.
The first goal was a body blow,
The second, frankly, was a gift.
Our defence looked tired and slow,
While their attacks were slick and swift
Now they’re on top and we’re below,
And they have opened up a rift.
Of course, we’re putting on a show,
Though hints of self-doubt have been sniffed
Cork’s confidence begins to grow,
The power balance starts to shift.
It will not be a crisis, though,
Till we slip down to fourth or fifth.
Yes, Cork upset the status quo
And Shels are now three points adrift.

Notes

Defeat to Linfield in the Setanta Cup Final, followed by a reversal in Dalymount to Bohs and a home whipping by Cork.
Woe, oh woe, oh woe.
