1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Runs towards the pack of screaming fans
With ecstasy carved on their faces
His arm swinging through the air
Team-mates running alongside
Reaching out to touch his shirt
Or ruffle his hair
To exist in his glory.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The songs begin to rise
As they beam with the memory of the goal
The others fall silent
Tightening the scarves on their frozen necks
Whilst the striker still chases the ball
Inside he is more alive than ever
As he ponders the years of legend status that await.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Now in the new career
With fleeting returns to the game he made his name
His name a rememberance of better days
As he receives the respect he never demanded
But accepts with thanks and happiness
Because of simple moments in games
Which created experiences of joy for thousands.
