Excited and keen, no, the shot wasn’t clean,
His teammates were shouting to give it.
But the College boys cursed at the rub of the green,
When the ball hit a nasty old divot.

Fintan said with a grin, that a shot hit with spin
Is likely to scupper a goalie,
And he wasn’t surprised when it ricocheted in,
Deceiving the Quigley lad wholly.

Was it skill? Was it luck? Sure, we don’t give a damn,
The dream is alive and we live it,
But still I maintain, quite convinced as I am,
He deliberately aimed for the divot.
