Life’s Rime’s Rhymes

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Up early, just after dark,
Up with the dawn, Sunday morning lark;
My footsteps, the first in the frost,
I’m Jack, stepping out across
The white hoar football pitch –
And when I glance behind, such
A sight you never did see,
All my immediate past history
Right there, indelible.
But interpretation is fallible.
For soon the sun’s heat
And football boots and feet,
And March winds’ chafing blast
Will efface my patterned past
And any hint of my existence.
