Liverpool v Nottingham Forest (Abandoned)

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 An FA Cup tie which Liverpool didn’t win, lose or draw.
The original match finished up without having a final
score.
A game that finished with a full 84 minutes left unused.
A game in which both teams left the field all bemused.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 It was a ghost of a game, one that was left incomplete.
A new date would have to be set for Forest again to meet.
No result would be recorded in the record books just a
capital ‘A’.
That ‘A’ stands for ‘Abandoned’ though why it might not say.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 If only it was abandoned due to fog, ice or a waterlogged
pitch.
If only the lights had failed, or some other electrical hitch.
A game in which the ‘final’ whistle under police instruction was
blown.
After that game many flags at half mast would be sadly flown.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 A game which suddenly made an unexpected appearance ‘live’
on TV.
Yet a horrified nation discovered there was no actual football to
see.
Instead the viewers saw only carnage right in front of their eyes.
Meanwhile those responsible had begun to spread their dirty lies.
