What if the press
Turned off their mikes
Turned off their recorders
Turned a deaf ear?

There wouldn’t be the hyperbole
The headlines
The reams of print
The soundbites
The backchat
The repercussions

That would be a loss –
But even with the sound turned down
We see him on the touchline
Engaged with the game
Genuinely feeling the pain
With more gesticulations
Than a runaway luge
Ploughing into the Moulin Rouge
Watch his expressions
Belie his emotions
Watch him jump to his feet in a flash
And yet at times … he’s cool out …
You have to admire his panache!
