On the brink

The ‘protest’ march is on this week,
And for those who may ask “Why?”
It’s to raise the public’s awareness,
Tthat ‘our’ club is about to die
Mr. Curtis and Co. please take note,
You were brought in to help us survive
But since you took control of things,
Our fortunes have taken a ‘dive’

No news is bad news these days,
And rumours seem to confirm our fears
That Stockport County FC
Are to disappear after 126 years
We are powerless to defend the club,
As the end appears ever nearer
All we want is to be told the truth,
And for the picture to be clearer

It doesn’t matter anymore,
What put our club into administration
What we all just need, and want,
Is an end to all this frustration
So if the march achieves one thing,
And let’s hope it’s some good news
Like the guaranteed future in the Football League,
Of our beloved ‘blues’

I’m sure I speak for many a fan,
In that I’d be happy with a reprieve
And then maybe, the club can appoint some leaders
In who we can believe
But first things first, and on with the march,
We need someone to hear our voice
To stop the slow and painful death,
Of our football club of choice

The first call is at Stockport Town Hall,
And a council leader we can’t rely on
Mr. Goddard shows no support, as he speaks
With his ‘Man City’ tie on
He states the importance of the club to the town,
But there’s no cash for us at all
Especially as the council has just spent a load of dosh,
Renovating an old ‘bingo hall’

Then on to Manchester, passed the PFA,
Then to Leonard Curtis for some answers
Especially about the £300 an hour, they charge
To ‘look after’ the clubs finances
Yes Wednesday is a big day for our club,
The message shouted from the paving
Will be that Stockport County FC,
Is very much a football club worth saving.
