Play Football, Not War

1914. In No Man’s Land
German & English met, played football
while the guns stayed silent.

What this tells me is that football
is greater than war, and that the round ball
was and remains a force for peace.
¶ 3

No coincidence then, that neither
Bush nor Saddam are known for their prowess
at putting the ball between the posts. Before
¶ 4

between them, they plunge our round world
into darkness, can I suggest a game of Soccer
might settle their differences without the need for blood.
