2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 The boots have arrived
All the way from Milan,
The games will be stylish,
That’s the manager’s plan.
The kit is brand new
All purple and blue,
The shirts are the purple,
The shorts are the blue,
And to make them more stylish,
The socks are blue too.
The team is now ready
To take to the field,
They want to start playing
For that large silver shield.
The ref blows the whistle,
The first kick is strong,
The crowd is now cheering,
They’ve been waiting so long.
This is the first time the school
Has a girls-only team,
And for many this moment
Had just been a dream.
It’s great to see girls
Playing the beautiful game,

Are just not the same.
They are all aged about ten
And they all want to play,
So for all of them out there,
This is their special day.
My granddaughter is playing
And I’m watching with pride,
To see her a member
Of her school’s football side.

Notes

My granddaughter Cassie who is ten years old loves sport and has now been given the opportunity to play football at school. They played a small tournament recently, drew two games 0-0 and won the third 3-0 and won the tournament. They now have football training every Tuesday and it is just so good to see the girls enjoying themselves. My late husband, her grandfather, played professional football and would be so happy to see her playing the game.
