Roger Osborne broke my heart..

well the year was nineteen and seventy eight,
a banner hung loosely, from my gate,
wishing Arsenal, the very best of luck,
in bringing back home, the ‘old’ F.A. Cup,
we should beat Ipswich, without a doubt,
a provincial side, without much clout,
‘The Tractor Boys’, well that says it all,
forgetting that pride, comes before the fall,
they murdered us from the very start,
then Roger Osborne went and broke my heart,
scored with twelve minutes left on the clock,
causing one of the greatest cup shocks,
and the humiliation, it didn`t end there,
going into school, was a total nightmare,
blue scarves aloft ,they chanted Ipswich Town,
had to run their gauntlet with my head down,
so don`t count your chickens, before they hatch,
cuz ‘little Ipswich’ were more then a match,
just remember it was the tortoise, who won the race,
or you could end up with egg on your face,
well the year was nineteen and seventy eight,
when i thought Ipswich Town, to be second rate,
then my little world, all but fell apart,
when Roger Osborne went and broke my heart.
