Someone killed my football club

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 My town, it had a football team, not big, but always ours
A lot’s gone wrong at the club of late, more so in the last 48 hours
As things got worse from day to day, our anger and frustration
Was finally tipped over the edge, with the club placed in ‘administration’

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Some thought that would be the last bad news, ‘at least we didn’t go down’
We could have been a ‘Rotherham’, or worse a ‘Luton Town’
But wait, there’s been some wrongdoing behind those boardroom doors
Is it the ‘trust’ the ex-MD, or just ‘bad luck’ the cause?

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 It all seems such a long time ago, that glorious day last year
As our boys they won at Wembley, to bring us ‘play-off’ cheer
This time around, we’ve been ‘top ten’, for the best part of the season
Until we started selling players, ‘to balance books’ the given reason

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 But now it seems there’s more than that, with ‘lies’, ‘ corruption’ and ‘fraud’
Just some of the accusations that have been aimed towards ‘the board’
The ‘administrator’ has moved in, and waved his sword above his head
The heart has been cut out of our club, and now it could be dead

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 We have no ground or management, no youth system or club shop
With more people leaving every day, when is this nightmare going to stop?
Soon there will be nothing left to buy or sell, and another gloomy thought
When the nightmare finally ends, will there be a football club left to support?

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 I could not care less, if they rot in hell, go to jail or are strung up high
There will be no punishment harsh enough, for those who caused my club to die
I truly hope that something good, can come out of our team’s demise
A ‘phoenix rising from the flames’, a ‘blessing in disguise’

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 But I cannot see where we go from here, after a hundred and twenty odd years
As every hour the latest news just brings more sorrow and more tears
The club has fought back from the brink before, but unless I see the sign
For me personally, Stockport County Football Club, died in May 2009
