Strawberry Hill Forever!!!

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Its Strawberry Hill In Twickenham
One Sunday as the sun brightly shone
Seven a sides in the Catholic Cup
A hockey pitch it was played on

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 We win the first two games with ease
Then comes the big test
Our neighbours from Westminster Cathedal
Were favourites to come out best

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Their headmaster Mrs Holdsworth
Always looked down on us
Because we came from a convent school
He had a slight mistrust

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 The game kicks off its two points for a goal
One point for a corner
As the goalie I was very confused
I thought this out of order

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 We concede a corner pretty quick
So now are one point down
The score remains the same
When half time comes around

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 Quarter of an orange
Then off we go to play the second half
Our game like wine improved no end
The longer time went on

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Our teacher was cheering us on
Then we scored two goals
The nuns back in Victoria
Prayers were answered
We were on a roll

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 The game was over
We had won
The Cathedral team were beat
Mr Holdsworth was just livid
And said words I dare not repeat

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 We stood around and wallowed
In a victory so good
How did we beat the Cathedral?
Because our teacher
Told us that we could

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 At ten years of age
Things like this
Never leave your mind
That summer day
At Strawberry Hill
Is an oh so poignant time!!!

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 peace.

Notes

To be unfancied and with no chance we overcame the odds to take the spoils! The nuns had a great confidence in us that we badly needed to have in ourselves, after this we did, that snobby headmaster never looked down on us again, so that was really cool as well.

peace.

kev.
