A thrilling two way tie
The rest can only watch and wonder
For the table doesn’t lie

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Advantage to the holders
As two tense teams vie
A superior goal difference might tip the balance
For the table doesn’t lie

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 But we chasers mustn’t relent
So far we’ve tried and tried
It’s not for us to give a fig
That as yet the table hasn’t lied

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 We must hope and pray for a slip up
Playing for more than just our wounded pride
So that we might be improbable winners on the last day
Of the infamous season the table lied!

Season 2007 / 2008

Two games to go : Utd & Chelsea level on points,
Holders Utd have a superior goal difference

Must check my facts – but I don’t think Chelsea have been top of the table once this season? (Hence the last line 🙂

Chelsea were in fact top of the table at the end of August 2007, after 4 games.
