The wall you fought for

Your desire to put on the red shirt,
and become the speckle of paint,
that colours our history,
brighter than burning ambition,
from which you shall see us,
faces chanting your name,
lighting up with smiles,
people you’ll never meet personally,
but change their lives in such little ways,
that they will thank you forever,
by wearing your name through their shirts,
soaking onto their skins,
their beings,
like pieces of a mosaic,
they will stand week in week out,
a wall of history,
in your honour.
