To Score or Not To Score, in a Little Hamlet.

Whether it’s nobler striking from the centre
Excessive shots and drives,
Or to volley against a wall of defenders,
And by beating them, scoring.
To aim, to strike and by that strike to say we won
And end the heartache of a thousand fans
Waiting for success, a fine end to all their wishes.
To cheer, to sing,
To sing, to live the dream.
It’s been four hundred years since Shakespeare died,
And his words still cast a spell,
They entertain, they twist and turn,
Just as football does as well.

Apologies to Shakespeare, this was inspired by him and the celebration of 400 years of his death. ‘Hamlet” is one of my favourites.
