Trevor Steven – Don’t Forget the Non-Divers

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 He usually gets it right our boss David Moyes
“If you want to see some acting then you’re spoiled for choice”
Down the theatre worthy thespians keep on shaking their spears
At the movies glam vampires bleed imitation tears
“But the football park’s no place to be aiming for the Oscars”
Go Covent Garden or La Scala if you want to play Tosca.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Check out Howard Kendall’s piece in the Liverpool Echo
Trevor Steven would do owt to avoid hitting the deck, oh
How he strove to keep his balance,And how he balanced skills, work-ethic even
And, with Gary, Toffees won’t forget their great World-Shaking Stevens

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 And for Luis Louie, skill-blessed striker, it’s a shame,
Use your divine feet now to kick the thespian out of your game

Notes

Another contribution to the “diving” issue, and also to honour the honesty of players like Everton’s great Trevor Steven, who would do anything to avoid falling. Post -derby, I know Nevs had a rush of blood to his head, but he doesn’t make a practice of diving, like one exquisitely-skilled striker from across Stanley Park, who does however have a work-rate that you have to respect.
