It’s thirty-six U.S. for each of twenty-three.
The party turned quite sour
in the semi’s first half hour.
Be glad to see the backs of ’em if it were me.

Free passage for the visitors from Germany.
After Tuesday’s crash
they started running short of cash.
Each player bought a round for each goal that they scored, you see.

An exercise in world football diplomacy.
Consider if they stay
they might decide again to play.
We might not yet have seen just how bad it could be.

and send a squad of Germans back across the sea.
I heard the Dutch request,

A precedent’s been set, what’s more they just scored three!

Call it a small investment in its dignity.
A subtle way to tell them
that they overstayed their welcome.
