How one man
epitomised
a childrens fable –
Michael, withdrawn and cosily ensconced, in his St George casing
adding little of value
while others hared around him
making a mockery, of the ‘friendly’ label
¶ 2

Until – with the finishing post in sight
from out of his shell
popped a predatory fox
who gobbled up a brace of chances
inside the Argentine box
And that boys and girls
is how the plodder
turned plunderer
