1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Day 23

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Neymar sets the tone
sweat and toil over sheer skill
back breaking effort

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 ~ # ~

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Day 24

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 The sun has got its hat on
Hip hip hip hooray!
Beautiful beaches beckon
But the World Cup is in play!

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 And the semi-final sunbeds
Have been booked by the German towels
Joined in the semis by hosts Brazil
From a game marred by fouls

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 And then today, all eyes on
Little Leo
But Les Diables Rouges disappoint
They needed more brio

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Followed by the (surely) easy game
The Dutch versus the Costa Ricans
But with their prodigious workrate
The case for walkover weakens

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 Then we have the big, big decision –
Van Gaal decides its Krul to be kind
Substituting his keeper
Now a bigger hero would be hard to find!

Notes

4th & 5th July 2014

Last 8, Quarter Finals

Germany 1 – 0 France
Brazil 2 – 1 Colombia
Argentina 1 – 0 Belgium
Holland 0 – 0 Costa Rica, Holland win 4-3 on pens.
Van Gaal stuns us all, by substituting his keeper with seconds left, so that Tim Krul could be in goal for the penalty shootout.
Van Gaal gambled on the fact that Krul’s 6ft 4” frame would fill the goal more than Clijssen.
