is ever reliant on his peers
even clad in shooting boots
it’s the sum that he fears

Notes

Monday 16th June, 2014

Germany 4 – 0 Portugal
Iran 0 – 0 Nigeria
Ghana v USA

Cristiano Ronaldo – as great a player as he is – one of the greatest ever, in my opinion – couldn’t carry Portugal by himself. Plus, he looked like he might have been nursing an injury.

And it didn’t help that Pepe got himself sent off in a very unprofessional manner – a hand into the face of Thomas Mueller, and then a touching of heads.

Mueller’s actions not great either – his over-reaction got his fellow pro sent off.
Mueller went on to score a hat-trick.

re Iran v Nigeria:

apologies – I must have jinxed the tournament (see haiku)
Coming into today, there had been 12 matches played, and no draws.
