WHY ARSENAL?

I write about Arsenal and all their fame
I admit it – it’s true
I talk about them just the same
It just seems a natural thing to do

What other team could I shout about
In awe of their heroic football deeds
There are no better clubs, I have no doubt
Certainly not Man United – certainly not Leeds

I’m there with them in my red and white shirt
I’m there whether they win or lose
When Freddie or Martin go don’t hurt
I’m there feeling their pain, paying my dues

At times the suffering is great
Especially the FA Cup Final in 2001
That was a day I love to hate
Owen scoring twice – definitely not fun

Like anything we love
They show us both pain and pleasure
Pain that we feel unworthy of
Joy that cannot be measured

We Gooners are a privileged lot
Because the trophy case is never bare
They’ll bring home a cup more often than not
And have us Gooners walking on air

No matter what our fate
Arsenal will always be my number one
I’ll continue praising Arsene the Great
As long as I’m my mother’s son
