As South Africa partied
The World Cup pundits,
Sports commentator and
So called football experts
Around the globe with nothing better to say
All followed each other like sheep
And asked
Will Mexico spoil South Africa’s party?

El-Tri’s came and promptly settled
For their siestas,
Wake to the sound of vuvuzelas
Like thousand elephants trumpeting
Millions of African, in the Soccer City
And across South Africa,
Celebrating Tshabalala goal.
On the pitch, on the day
In front of thousands of cheering home fans,
The gulf in the FIFA ranking,
Has no meaning,
It’s the heart that counts.

Mexicans tried but
Were only second best,
Even though the score and
At the final whistle it was one – one,
The points were shared but was not honour,
South Africa party’s on.
