Yoko Ono & The Liverpool Way

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 The town is culture to a core
Blue or red through Lennon’s door
The Cavern stage is set to see
Another saint, so let it be
The snarling wisdom, sarky verbs
My teenage years summed up in verse
Yea Anfield’s green my true delight
The Shankly Gates a welcome sight…
Now sometimes art is underground
Avant Garde it’s really sound
And from the Liver Birds abound
“Did yer see ’em?” Scousers frown
Now Johnny’s missus caused a stir
She’s put those pictures everywhere
Still chucking stones artistic ripples
Liverpool was raining nipples!
So to the ‘fans’ that chucked them bottles
Dragged our name into the s**t
Shankly’s words might well urge caution:
Be an artist not a t*t!

Notes

Boss result last night for the Reds, but shame on those who attacked the City coach.

Yoko Ono reference www.bbc.co.uk/liverpool/content/articles/2004/09/16/biennial_breasts_feature.shtml

“The Liverpool Biennial 04 has begun with Liverpool’s city centre streets plastered with banners of women’s breasts and crotch. The controversial artwork called My Mummy Was Beautiful has been created by Yoko Ono and is on display across the city centre and at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
Yoko Ono says she’s created the piece out of her affection for the city and to remember John Lennon’s love for his own mother who was killed in a car accident when he was 18.”

Indeed.
