Clippety Klopp
Clippety clippety Klopp,
The Germans are no longer top.
With Nagelsmann they’re down the pan,
Clippety clippety Klopp.
Tikety tikety tok,
They’re numb, in a state of shock.
And Julian’s not the right man,
Tikety tikety tok.
They need a New Manager Bounce,
If not they will always get trounced.
And who might that new man be?
Clippety clippety Klopp!

Democratic Monarchy of England
Why do we sing God Save The King?
The tune is dull, there’s not much zing.
It’s our National Anthem, so to sing we are obliged,
Cos we’re the Democratic Monarchy of England.
Of course we have a National Team,
Not quite the best this planet’s seen.
We won the World Cup once back in nineteen sixty-six,
In London, Democratic Monarchy of England.
Alas, since then we’ve played away,
At times come close, but always fail.
Optimists eternal, hear us chant “It’s coming home!”,
Home to the Democratic Monarchy of England.
Time was we had a huge Empire,
Which got consumed in History’s fire.
But folk round the world still keenly watch the Premier League,
Based in the Democratic Monarchy of England.
So if we don’t win this World Cup,
We’ll cry a bit, but not too much.
We don’t rule the waves, but still have reasons to be proud,
Proud of our Democratic Monarchy of England.

Paraguay proudly progress
goodbye Germany
Jude Bellingham Limerick
In our ranks is a player named Bellingham,
Who started out playing for Birmingham.
He’s blown hot, cold and warm,
Now he’s hitting top form,
So he’s shaping up better than Sheringham.

unconvincing still
Bellingham and Kane provide
sweet relief at last
——————–
still weak in defence
tempo needs another shift
if we’re to advance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
how will this lot be
v the likes of France or Spain
if we’re still in this ?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
don’t you sometimes find
all those qualifying games
one big waste of time ?
~~~~~~~~
Homeward and Onward
We’re heading home we’re Steve Clarke’s Army,
Hopes all smashed to smithereens.
No, we didn’t shake ’em up,
Didn’t win the World Cup,
Cos we’re really quite an ordinary team.
We’re marching on we’re Tuchel’s Troopers,
We’ve made it to the Knockout Stage.
We don’t care about low blocks,
Now we’re gonna call the shots,
And we’re out to set this tournament ablaze.

When England Take On Panama WC26
when England take on Panama
will we display how good we are
or end up staring at the clock
demoralised by their low block
with nine or ten behind the ball
as we just pass and pass the ball
why is it like this ev’ry time
before it started I was fine
I search for omens from afar
’til England take on Panama
O Panama O Panama
how far away and hot you are
I try to picture what goes on
your fans all cheering in Colon
your home of hats and coffee too
which your canal cuts neatly through
the heat in New York where we play
will suit you more in ev’ry way
I’m confident but I’m not sure
so many times we’ve failed before
I trust our mood is up to par
before we take on Panama
but soon so soon the moment’s near
so why the dread and why the fear
I watch the others score at will
destroying teams they shine and thrill
what’s happened to the faith I had
when I was just a little lad?
I know that many feel the same
it’s just another tricky game
I’m praying Kane will be our star
when England take on Panama
when Panama take England on
I hope the air-conditioning’s on
I’ve waited now these four long years
O please don’t let it end in tears
in sixty-six I danced around
the Summer streets in London town
I wonder if I’ll feel as proud
inside our little pub in Stroud
or glue my ears up to Five Live
to keep this crazy dream alive
and look for signs to comfort me
if I can’t bear it on TV
it’s time to leave my mind ajar
when England take on Panama

Ghana stand up tall
Three Lions cannot find a way
through that 5-4-1 ~

way before low blocks
sticking ten behind the ball
was the phrase we’d use ~
WC 2026 Scotland round 2 haiku
Bagpipes to the fore
Tartan Army charms Boston
But need to score more
intensity haiku ~ England 4-2 Croatia WC26
with intensity
England’s press and energy
crush Croatia ~

Hi Crispin,
Thanks for the featured poem for the Arsenal Premier League victory. I love that photo showing the Arsenal ladies and fans in full rattle and rosette mode. I’ve seen it before quite a few times and, I think, a bit iconic. I think it was before the Gunners victory against Liverpool in the 1950 FA Cup Final. Great photograph.

Thanks for that Joe. Yes it’s been some season we had a blip but came out of it and finished strong. A mate of mine supports West Ham here in Coventry and my next door neighbour is a Spurs supporter, and both are getting edgy ! I like the Championship though as it’s competitive and has some good teams, players, and fans. Anyway we are back in the top flight and who knows what will happen ?
