A Tear From St Walfrid’s Eye

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 St Walfrid he stepped down from heaven one day
And he walked with the disciples down the old Gallowgate
They came from the town that had given them birth
Wrapped up in the flag of their history and earth
Now Walfrid he gazed on the form of Martin O’Neil
And in his deeds for the Celtic the Brother was pleased
For this man had brought pride to the grand Celtic soul
Just like Ghod’s Son Larsson with each of his goals
There were songs for Willie Maley and songs for McStay
Their were songs for the Bhoys of the old brigade
There songs for Johnny Doyle and when they were done
All joined together for a rousing Hampden In The Sun
And then when the faithful sang The Fields of Athenry
A tear fell from the Saint’s eye, happily.
