Goals

In life we have goals
That we set as our targets
For achievment those little mementos
Of our victories against the injustices
And disappointments in life
And every now and then
One of our goals hits the back of the net
But more often than not God
In the guise of Robert Lewis
Shakes His head, waves on play
And leaves us all bewildered
Our eyes stinging in the glare of floodlights
And the realisation that if Heaven’s Pitch
In any way resembles Old Trafford
Then I for one will be playing away.
