now that’s a surprise,
took in the usual hype
believed all the lies.

Messi a little superstar
Argentina finish so strong.
It’s not coming home,
another tournament fail,
as the Argies rejoice
England fans cry and wail.
It’s not coming home
Three Lions on the shirt,
Bobby Moore lifted the trophy
yet now sixty years of hurt.
It’s not coming home
let’s pretend we don’t care,
but we invented the beautiful game
football can be so unfair.
It’s not coming home
but was it really ever ?

So out we go again so near yet so far away.
Trying to solve what went wrong this time would even cause Sherlock Holmes to have sleepless nights ! We could discuss it forever and still be confused, could it be as simple as wrong tactics, not good enough, or lacking in toughness ?
