Poema al Diego

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 There is a person, there is a man
Who was born on Argentine land.
He was very poor, no chances for success,
But his passion for football made him the best.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 For the Cebollitas he started playing,
And since then, his skills were amazing.
At age 16 he played so good,
That in Argentinos Juniors he made his debut.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 He then went to Boca, the teams he most loves,
And there he made history scoring tons of goals.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 He then signed for Barcelona, a not very stable team.
But this man made his job, and gave Barca a relief.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 It was time for our man to visit northern Italy,
And win everything with the disastrous Napoli.

6 Leave a comment on verse 6 0 He was at his best, he needed a test
So he went to Aztec land to win a World Cup for his fans.

7 Leave a comment on verse 7 0 Against the mighty England he scored a great goal
And he went to the finals with his “hand of God.”

8 Leave a comment on verse 8 0 Argentina won the final game, they were the new world champions,
and this man reached the biggest dream he had since his childhood.

9 Leave a comment on verse 9 0 His career went just fine, but Italy was malicious,
And there is where this man began with his drug addiction.
He consumed cocaine, and he was suspended,
But his career wasn’t over although it nearly ended.

10 Leave a comment on verse 10 0 Years after this, it was time for a World Cup.
It was held in the States in the year nineteen ninety-four.
There our man with Argentina played his last game.
His legs were cut, and it was a shame.

11 Leave a comment on verse 11 0 Argentina did bad in that World Cup
Just after our man left the team alone.

12 Leave a comment on verse 12 0 He continued playing for a few more years,
until he retired with Boca Juniors.

13 Leave a comment on verse 13 0 He was a great player, I’ll never forget.
And in football he was simply the best.
He is a genius, he is a god
for many people around the world.

14 Leave a comment on verse 14 0 Today he is old, today he is weak
he fights the drugs week after week.

15 Leave a comment on verse 15 0 He made millions of people happy,
Forgotten he will never be gonna.
We thank you for everything, Pelusa.
We thank you, Diego Armando Maradona.

This poem goes for the best player ever. Initially it was made as homework but I could avoid getting deep into it. It is based on the life of Diego Maradona, but no investigation was done to make it, so some things I say in the poem might be wrong. Still, I hope you like the poem. Greetings from Mexico.
