No More Narcissi Anymore

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Snowdrops on a rain-swollen riverbank,
Primrose by a canal lock, shady and dank,
A thrush taps gainst its mirrored reflection –
The message is clear for the footballing nation:
The narcissus of spring, bright yellow and green,
Means self-love, but self-death;
So cheer the opposition, not your own team.

Notes

It was late Jan when I wrote this after a bike ride and then a sit down in the garden, where I watched a thrush tap against a mirror.
