Le Tour de Britz

1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Wiggo! Wiggo! Wiggo!
But I’m not chanting for Martinez and Whelan
and their perennial escapees
nor predicting a plummet
in aggravated journalese

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Bradley! Bradley! Bradley!
But I’m not advocating Guzman over Given
that’s a job for Paul Lambert
and his staff
to favour the more driven

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Froomey! Froomey! Froomey!
No, not a striker’s plaintive plea, to the referee
of a wayward tackle from behind
but my utter admiration, to the dedication
of the daily grind

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Cavo! Cavo! Cavo!
Ce n’est pas un cri de coeur de Kavan_agh
more: chapeau – Cavo!
but I wonder…
wouldn’t it have been easier to take the car?!?!

Notes

Chapeau : French cycling term meaning admiration, i.e. “hat’s off to…”

Absolutely blown away by the success of Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome, Mark Cavendish, Team Sky and David Millar in this year’s Tour de France, Bradley becoming the first British winner in its entire history.

I’ve been a fan since even before Stephen Roche won it for Ireland in 1987, so chapeau too, to his son Nicholas who came 12th, and nephew Dan Martin who came 10th in the King of the Mountains competition.

Reference too, to goalkeepers Brad Guzman and Shay Given, who will be fighting for the #1 jersey at Villa Park this season.
And ex Wigan captain and Ireland international….. Graham Kavanagh
