1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Higuain, Aguero and Messi –
they thought they would go to town.
Higuain, Aguero and Messi –
they thought they would break them down.
At the end we were willing Iran to hold firm
and make their illustrious counterparts squirm.
At the end, the Iranians so nearly had ‘em,
though we didn’t know any of their players from Adam
but Messi struck home for the kill,
as Messi invariably will.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Higuain, Aguero and Messi –
three names to unlock a defence.
Higuain, Aguero and Messi
are the pounds, the shillings and pence.
At the end, we were thinking a draw would be sweet
and praying Iran might just keep a clean sheet.
They couldn’t quite manage to go in the lead
but at least we were hoping they wouldn’t concede
but Messi made everyone buzz,
as Messi invariably does.
