No need for rashness, keep it calm and steady –
don’t jump in with your feet up off the floor.
The last sixteen, your team will need you more
than in this match in which you’ve naught at stake.
You’ve qualified, don’t even need to score –
why give your next competitors a break?
For Steve Defour, his ludicrous mistake
is something no supporter understands.
Had he stayed alert and stayed awake,
he wouldn’t watch the next match from the stands.
The price, of course, for trying to pull a fast one
is that the next big game might be the last one.
