Van De Ven’s Assist
¶ 1
Leave a comment on verse 1 1
Football dinks about and occasionally
A long pass looks straight but indirectness
Tends to be the name of the game you see
So when Van de Ven slid by sad Rashford
We assumed a pass was then on the cards.
Instead, he was off, Lipizzaner-like,
Galloping into the United half
Red shades failing about him, beyond touch
Until an impossibly perfect cross
Was met by a smiling Welshman and buried.
Great poem and great to see you back Wyn.
Don’t leave it so long next time my friend!
More please.
