We were down “The Cottage” this one day
Them blue boys were away
So we went to check our neighbours out
To see their style of play

T’was a lovely day as I recall
Stood there by the Thames
You know it just below Putney Bridge
Just where the river bends

The crowd were decked in teeshirts
As the riverboats went by
A pair of swans were arguing
As three o clock arrived

No Addidas or Puma
So slim line and so chic
But a great big pair of ankle high protectors
Took great care of Keetch’s feet

Were they made by Gola
A ground breaking new design?
He looked like he’d fall over
As he crossed the half way line

He stood in these fantastic things
That our like had never seen
Brown and bulbous and so big
Out on that field of green

He kicked the ball with power
He kicked opponents too
He’d have even kicked that Jimmy Hill
If he thought he was a blue

Just what were those brown things
That Keetch in looked so cute?
In all my days as a football fan I swear
I’ve never seen another bloke playing in…. antique rugby boots!
