Daydream

Walking to school one day
I was in the middle of a daydream.
I was dreaming that I was scoring
The winning goal for our school team.
I sometimes think I’m a an astronaut,
And sometimes a cowboy in the wild-west,
But today I was a footballer,
One who was the best.
Also there was a scout there
And this goal he had seen.
He asked me to play for Tottenham
Who are my favourite team.
I really love to daydream.
I feel it’s so much better you see,
Because I can do anything I want
Not like in reality.
In real life I don’t think
That I’d get picked at all.
Not for Tottenham Hotspur,
Not even for my school.
But in my dreams it’s different
They’re my creation you see.
So I can dream anything I want
And there is no one who is better than me.
And there is one thing
That I would wish.
I would like for these dreams
Never to finish.
But unfortunately,
However much I pretend,
I know that this pretence
Will have to come to an end.
Like today this dream has ended,
And I’m not happy at all.
The reason it has ended
Is that I’ve now arrived at school.
