There was passion in massive abundance
As the stadium stood up and was proud
I’d swear I heard David Baddiel, The Seeds and that Baggie’s
Old record, ring out from the middle class crowd.

Were the boys to a man really up for it?
What kind of question is that?
Were the forwards alert to having a drop kick
And who was that bloke at the back?

The national stadium rose to the occasion
As the boys took a step to toward final
Just the one match to go out with all a guns a blazin
Or else we go down the urinal.

There was blood on the faces from rucking
Where the white shirts had given their all
To a blue shirted team harbouring dreams
Of at least getting back to a draw.

Some of them geezers were real beasts
You could use them for knocking down doors
What Rooney, Owen two Coles and co
Real beasts? You’re having a laugh, are you sure?

Just what the heck are you going on about?
There’s Russia to come next then it’s a home tie versus Croatia
Er….sorry I seemed to have got me wires crossed
I was talking about England, Estonia at the new Wemberly stadium

But to make the poem more interesting and exciting
And the heartbeat of true England fans dance
I thought that last nights real do or die gutsy performance
Took place in Paris….. in the Stadium de France?
