1 Leave a comment on verse 1 0 Bring back Rattles
clicking in kids hands
and let us stand up
instead of sitting in the stands.

2 Leave a comment on verse 2 0 Bring back the three o’clock kick off
for all matches on a Saturday
and let us pay on the turnstiles
when we turn up on the day.

3 Leave a comment on verse 3 0 Bring back the old style Cup draw
just the way it used to be
not like it is now
with lots of numbers on the T.V.

4 Leave a comment on verse 4 0 Bring back honest Footballers
who don’t dive and cheat
who can withstand a tackle
and stay upon their feet.

5 Leave a comment on verse 5 0 So bring back the good old days
and stars like Law, Greaves and Best,
sadly that can never ever happen
but at least I got it off my chest !

Notes

My son attended his first match this season for our game versus Swindon last Saturday, and he wasn’t impressed at all.

And I knew how he felt because he wants to watch top league football but alas he isn’t going to get that here at Coventry.

Talking over a few beers after the match I bored him senseless with all my memories of football in the sixties and seventies.

But he did say he was envious that I was so passionate about that era.

Only Bale excites me these days, but he lets himself down with his diving, but he isn’t on his own.
