is it the badge?
two flames forever burning
in memory of the 96
that perished
all the lads
bloody memories
stomach still churning
like the shirt colour of red
wear it with pride
true tears never hide
wet as the Mersey tide
on a murky river bed

deafening noise
what a sound
anthem of the city
choir singing in harmony
‘ you’ll never walk alone ‘
Anfield is the home

a member of one of two Cathedrals
friendly through and through
ask a scouser for some help
will do all he can to help you
would always make a stranger welcome
always with a smile
if you ever visit the city
you will feel welcome by a mile

is the only thing i ever wanted to do
i wear my shirt with dignity and pride
sometimes tears i cannot hide
just like the Mersey tide
