I walked along the quiet street
While the sun began to droop
On the pavement just my feet
Beside the hills that stoop.

Open were the restaurants
But on a Tuesday night
Few decide to take a jaunt
They’d enjoy it if they might.
¶ 3

I carried on up til the park
Pockets of people lay
Basking in an idle lark
As night sprung up from day.
¶ 4

I checked until the time came
Then headed for the ground
To anticipate the game
To fill the vacant sound.

All around the pitch and stands
The people of the town
Out in force with clapping hands
And cheers that will not drown.

Teenagers, adults, children
Fervour like floodlights shine
And as a stranger in their den
Wonder and faith combine.
